In this article, you will learn about chia farming/mining and see how it works.
Also, be showing you the chia farming process and how to do the plotting.
Chia farming is a process of hard drive mining, but first, we should know about the chia coin, which XCH symbolizes.

What is Chia Coin?
Chia is a network that intends to sell software services. It’s an open-source blockchain. It provides smart transaction software, which is large buyers and sellers of storage for financial institutions & corporations. In addition, it has a decentralized network that operates a payment settlement system.
Chia was helping Bitcoin adopt new technologies like bech32m, graftroot, and taproot.
Chia is green money for a digital world.
Best Hard Drive for Mining
Chia mining works on proof of space so you will be required to Hard Drive to farm Chia coin.
Here is list of the best external hard drive for mining Chia (XCH):

How to Farming Chia Coin?
Chia farming is an easy process to do, and you need a good ram and CPU. Also, I need an external HDD.
I will be showing you step-by-step to farm chia coin:
Step 1: Install the Chia Blockchain Software.
Visit GitHub and download the blockchain as per your Operating System.
After downloading, click on ChiaStepup.exe to install.
Now start the installation.
Click on Create a New Private Key.
This will be your private key for your new wallet. Write down this on paper in the same order.
Click on Next.
A security alert will pop up, and click on allow access.
In the full node, you will see the synchronization.
In the wallet section, you will send and receive Chia coin.
Plots section where you create your plots
The farm is where you see all the farming details.
Keys in which you see the private keys.
Step 2: Create a Plot
Go to Plot, click on add a plot.
Choose Plot Size. I will suggest you put k=32.
storage requirements are:
K-size | K=32 | K=33 | K=34 | K=35 |
Temp. Size | 239 GiB (256.6 GB) | 512 GiB (550 GB) | 1041 GiB (1118 GB) | 2175 GiB (2335 GB) |
Final Size | 101.4 GiB (108.9 GB) | 208.8 GiB (224.2 GB) | 429.8 GiB (461.5 GB) | 884.1 GiB (949.3 GB) |
For k=32 you atleast need 256.6 GB.
For example,
500GB SSD = 1 Plot,
1 TB SSD = 3 Plot.
If you are doing it for the first time, put plot count one or set plot count as much as you need.
You can Plot in parallel or Add a Plot to Queue.
Click on the advance option for Add a Plot to Queue.
As you can see, there is a default value, and you can use default or increase ram usage and number of threads to increase plotting speed.
A number of buckets and queue names leave it alone.
If you have enough space in storage, then you can choose a plot in parallel.
If you have a 1TB SSD, then you can plot 3 in parallel.
Delays are where you can start plotting when one Plot ends; 60 Min delays are best to put.
So you should have enough ram and threads.
Three plots, you need 10665 of Ram, So 16GB of ram is enough for three plots.
You have to put six threads, as shown above.
Step 3: Select Directory
Create two directories in your HDD.
Choose a directory for Temporary and for Final.
Click on Create Plot.
This is how to farm chia coin which is very simple,
Chia Farming Rig
Making a different rig for chia farming is a good idea because while plotting, you need CPU usage, and if there is an application using CPU, then plotting will close again and again.
So it’s better to have different farming rigs for Chia Coin.
So you are going to need:
- Processor
- Ram
- Motherboard
- Power supply
- 1 TB Internal HDD, External HDD depends on you.
- Graphics Card
- Cabinet.
Requirments | Sepcs |
---|---|
Processor | AMD: Ryzen 9, Ryzen 7, Ryzen 5 |
Ram | 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz |
Motherboard | ASUS ROG Strix B550-F |
Power supply | EVGA 500W 80PLUS |
1 TB Internal HDD | Samsung SSD |
External HDD | WD External HDD |
Graphics Card | GTX 1650 |
Cabinet | PC Case |
Chia Coin Profitable Calculator
You can calculate chia farming calculator on this website: Click Here to Calculate Chia.
As you can see, for 9.90 TiB, you can create 100 plots, so your estimated earning will be 120$, and the winning chance is 12 months.
If you have less storage, then go for pool mining.
What is farming for Chia Coin?
Chia Farming is a process of 2 steps: Plotting & Harvesting.
Plotting
To farm chia first step is to create a plot, and the letter k represents space. Plotting requires CPU and RAM to compute tables. Thus, plotting requires high-end machines.
Harvesting
After completing plots, harvesting involves waiting for the number to be called out to get rewards. Most of the time, a harvester will not find the required value in a plot, but when it does, it gets something called a “proof of space,” which proves that a lot of space has been allocated to a piece of land.
Solo and Pool Farming
Solo: Chia farming is like a lottery. There is a chance that you will get nothing because it has become more difficult to win and also the difficulty is increasing.
If you have a 40TB External HDD, it will take almost three months to win a chia coin.
Pool: It is a group of miners which farms chia coin, and in rewards, everyone gets an equal amount of chia coins. There is no official farming pool for chia coins, but there is one called Hpool.
Hpool is an unofficial chia pool. However, farming on Hpool is a catch because they need private keys and download the third-party app.
I’m currency farming in Hpool to get breakeven as soon as possible. I think soon there will be more farming pools for Chia.
